The Motter Family’s session was everything I love about outdoor summer family photos in Minnesota—warm sunshine, a relaxed atmosphere, genuine smiles, and of course, a little four-legged energy to keep things fun! Their dog, Berkey, completely stole the show! He has such a big personality, and I still can’t get over all of his many expressions throughout their photos. (just scroll thru them… I’ve never seen so many smiley faces from a pup before!)
We’ve been lucky to work with this incredible family multiple times over the years. From Olivia’s North Loop Minneapolis senior session in 2019 to Katelyn’s playful Minneapolis senior photos in 2024, it’s been an honor to be a part of so many milestones in their lives! They are truly dream clients having placed their trust in us over the years, and while we’re excited for their new adventure, we’ll definitely miss them now that they’ve traded Minnesota’s unpredictable weather for Florida’s endless sunshine!
Also, can we talk about how perfect their outfits are? If you’re wondering what to wear for summer family photos, take notes from the Motters! Their soft blues, whites, and neutrals looked amazing against the fresh summer greenery in this Monticello park. They coordinated beautifully without looking overly matched—my top tip for family sessions! And, of course, we always recommend choosing clothing that complements the setting but, more importantly, outfits that feel like you.

Before their session, the Motter Family got camera-ready with makeup, hair, and men’s finishing by Hey Girl Beauty Co.! Everyone—except Berkey (who had his own celebrity glam squad, of course)—sat in Amanda’s chair for a little extra polish before stepping in front of the camera. Professional hair and makeup can make such a difference in photos, helping everyone feel confident and photo-ready!
