The last 12 months have been busy for us here at AHP. It’s been filled with many changes that, as we look back, have been some pretty BIG changes to fit into just a few months! We relocated from our old location in Melrose to the slightly bigger, yet super friendly smallish town of Monticello, we got married (family and friends reading this… yes, we will share more photos soon!), and we completely overhauled our website and the face of AHP! Whew… it makes us tired just thinking about it! One of the biggest tasks for us was the build of our new home and the new studio of AHP!
Those of you who have never gone through the home building process probably thinks it sounds like a fun endeavor… until you actually start! The process was a long one for us! Four months of building, countless trips back and forth for progress meetings, way too many choices for every house finish (who knew there were so many door knobs and wood trims to choose from!) not to mention the suspense of finally living under the same roof as my soon to be bride; the end was finally near!
Well sort of… in the beginning of November move in day had arrived! One would think this would be a time to celebrate because work was complete and we could relax, but telling ourselves that would have been a complete lie. There was an unfinished lower level that was screaming to be spruced up to become the new studio for Adam Hommerding Photography!!
Two months after move in day, we began tackling half of the future studio! The natural light shooting space was our first priority and we jumped right in with the help of our family! Three weeks of being weekend worriers doing all tasks from sheetrock to painting all while being overcome by the fumes of concrete sealer, we finally finished the natural light studio we’ve always dreamt of! We even dedicated this page on the website just for our favorite new space! Oh, and did we mention that the last piece of trim was installed just hours before these two cute faces arrived for their session?! Finished just in time!
We are happy to report the craziness hasn’t stopped! Plans are already brewing for the completion of the remaining parts of the studio this winter! That means modern AHP sessions are happening all winter long! We’d love to have you over for some photo fun in our new space, too! We promise the concrete sealer fumes are long gone! 🙂
