A Summer Family Session Full of Personality
One of the greatest compliments you can give a photographer is coming back again years later with your growing family. Getting to photograph this sweet crew for a second time honestly meant so much to me and Amanda. We first photographed the Hall Family back in 2020, and seeing how much the kids had grown (and how their personalities had grown right along with them) made this session extra special.
This summer family session took place around downtown Buffalo, Minnesota with a mix of urban textures, greenery, and golden evening light — basically the perfect combination for relaxed, personality-filled family photos.
And yes… little Bodie completely stole the show more than once.
What I love most about sessions like this is that they aren’t about perfectly posed smiles every second of the evening. They’re about connection. The in-between laughs, the chaos of walking together, kids being goofy, parents soaking it all in for a second without worrying about whether everyone is “behaving” perfectly. Those are always the moments families end up loving most.
This family absolutely leaned into that, and it made the session feel easy, genuine, and fun from start to finish.
The best part? Their photos didn’t just end up sitting in a digital gallery afterward.
One of the things we worked on together after the session was designing a custom wall gallery for their home featuring a mix of canvases, float frame canvases, and framed artwork. We also created a custom family album so these all those in-between moments could actually live somewhere beyond a phone screen and enjoyed for many years to come.
Designing custom portrait art is honestly one of my favorite parts of our family portrait process. Helping families take the photos we create together and turn them into something they can enjoy every single day in their is so exciting as a photographer. And parents tell us time and time again how much they love having those photos on their walls.
